The Jorge Lacerda Thermoelectric Complex (CTJL) is at the center of a production chain that generates around R$ 6 billion annually in the Santa Catarina economy, generating approximately 21 thousand direct and indirect jobs and impacting the lives of more than 100 thousand people.
These numbers cover activities such as coal mining, transportation by the Tereza Cristina Railroad, cement industry, production of mining machinery and equipment, power generation by the CTJL, and various related services. In all, 15 municipalities in the south of Santa Catarina are involved and directly benefited by this energy production chain.
The CTJL invests from R$ 3.5 to R$ 4 million annually in Research, Development & Innovation (RD&I) projects. The objective is to strengthen the entire production chain, creating solutions and new equipment and improving services, including carbon capture and contributing to the just energy transition in the south of the state of Santa Catarina.
