
Diamante Energia's event brought together 60 technical education students and reinforced the importance of female presence in technical and industrial areas.
Since taking over the operation of Energia Pecém, a thermoelectric plant located in Ceará, Diamante Energia, also the manager of the Jorge Lacerda Thermoelectric Complex (SC), has been integrating actions and strengthening Social Responsibility programs between the two assets.
O Women in Technical Careers Workshop, created in 2022 at the Jorge Lacerda Complex by the People and Management area, had its first edition at Energia Pecém In the days October 28 and 29. The event brought together 60 technical education students of the São Gonçalo do Amarante Vocational Center (CVTEC), the Valter Ramos School, the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Ceará (IFCE) and the SENAI of Maracanaú, Barra do Ceará and Centro de Fortaleza.
With the objective of stimulate women's interest in technical careers and to encourage their inclusion in a market that is still predominantly male, the workshop promoted reflections, inspiring examples, and a practical immersion in the industrial environment.
The schedule included a Lecture on the role of women in society, led by Diamante Energia's People and Management manager, Daiane Fernandes Ferreira Machado. Then, four collaborators from the technical area shared their personal and professional stories and career challenges:
The participants also held a guided visit to the plant, getting to know the coal-fired power generation process and its technical stages up close. The workshop closed with a get-together lunch, marking a moment of integration and exchange of experiences.
For Daiane Machado, the event reinforces the transformative role of education and female representation: “The workshop shows that women can pursue a technical career. This is rarely said to them when they need to choose a profession. Many are unaware of these possibilities, and our intention is to present the opportunities that the industry offers, with better salaries and great chances of growth.”
The student Júlia Evelin Teixeira Barbosa, from the IFCE and the youngest technical apprentice in chemistry, highlighted the inspiration provided by the initiative: “It was very good to participate in this workshop with only women. We realize that we have our place to speak and we see that, with study and dedication, we can also reach where these professionals arrived.”
As for the student Jaine Ferreira, from CVTEC, emphasized the importance of sisterhood and mutual support: “We need to be women who support women, because it's not easy to be in an almost exclusively male environment. Women need to prove much more that they are capable.”
Diamante Energia's HR manager, Elton Nery, also evaluated the event as an action that strengthens diversity and female leadership: “The initiative strengthens female empowerment and diversity within the organization, showing the possibilities that the plant offers in practice. The cases serve as an inspiration for more women to continue fighting for their space in the technical market.”
