Diamante Energia completed the full acquisition of the Energia Pecém thermoelectric plant, located in the Pecém Industrial and Port Complex (CIPP), in São Gonçalo do Amarante, Ceará. The transaction marks another step in the company's expansion strategy in the thermal generation sector.
The plant, with an installed capacity of 720 megawatts (MW), is one of the main energy suppliers in the Northeast. Its infrastructure guarantees the safe and reliable supply of electricity, especially at times of low water generation or significant increase in demand, and is fundamental to the country's energy security.
Energia Pecém also has the first green hydrogen plant operating in Brazil. In addition, it intends to participate in the auction with a greenfield project, with a 1.3 GW expansion, running on natural gas.
With the acquisition, Diamante Energia reinforces its presence in the national electricity sector. The company will continue to invest in the modernization of processes and in initiatives that combine energy security, operational efficiency and sustainability.
“Pecém Energia becomes part of Diamante with the purpose of joining forces, further developing the plant's potential and contributing to energy security in the Northeast region. We are very happy to have the talent and dedication of the employees who are already part of this history and who are now joining our journey,” says Pedro Litsek, CEO of Diamante Geração de Energia.
The operation is part of Diamante Energia's growth plan, which is also responsible for the Jorge Lacerda Thermoelectric Complex (CTJL) in Santa Catarina, the largest in South America in the coal segment.
